The Flight from Byrd knives. The BY05G G-10 Flight meets the byrd Line’s quality and price standards and offers a G-10 handle, a thin, light plastic laminate. G-10 is voraciously durable, doesn’t retain heat/cold, sloughs off chemicals and feels grippy even when your mitts are slippery wet or cold. Tucked inside the handle are dual steel liners, a mid-positioned lockback on the spine. The blade is 8Cr13MoV: a knife industry designation of high carbon stainless steel similar to AUS-8 in performance and function. The partially serrated clip-point blade is hollow-ground with an upswept tip and swedge grind on the spine. The clip carries right- or left-handed and tip-up. For added safety, a portion of the lock release is ground away. This feature was conceived by custom knifemaker David Boye and eliminates the chance of gripping the knife tightly enough to unintentionally release the lock.
