This Mestra balisong is the child of a karambit and butterfly knife. There is smooth rotation along the axis points. It features a black-finished 440 stainless steel blade, recurve handles, and a finger hole. The black stainless steel solid handles feature wing-like patterned engravings, a tip-up carry clip on the bite handle, and a T-latch. There is jimping along the thumb rest. Dual tang construction for reduce wear on the blade and improved lockup. Torx screws for easy adjustments. Comes with black nylon sheath.

This is a great budget butterfly knife for those who want a knife with some heft and a bit of individuality.

Very Nice!
Davin T.
I really love karambits and butterfly knives so when I saw this and how slick it looked I just needed to get it. It feels really good to hold however it's a bit on the heavier side so flipping requires a bit more energy. It was kind of annoying that one of the handles was much too tight and restricted flipping at first, but that problem was easily remedied by oiling/greasing it up and loosening the screw. The biggest problem I have really is that the latch is just way off. You have to really squeeze the handles together to be able to get that latch in. Other than that it's an amazing knife and I would recommend it to others.
Annoyingly heavy

So, right off the bat, this thing is heavy. Not like "oh, more momentum to flip it with, cool" heavy, more like "I really gotta manhandle this thing around" heavy, or "bludgeon someone with this rather than stab them" heavy.

This thing, for a flipper, is absolutely horrible. The handles don't have the best grip, they're curved, It'd be ok for an EDC, I especially like ring loop for your finger to hold it, but this thing is more like a mall ninja knife than really all that usable. You have to be careful flipping it around too, it keeps pinching me quite painfully at those dull serrations opposite the ring loop. Like, it really hurts when you're flipping it closed and it pinches you there.

Overall, it's heavy, awkward to flip, pinches you, but the ring loop is cool and it looks like it would take quite the beating before it began to fall apart, providing you kept a close eye on those Torx screws. It looks cool, for sure, making me wonder how scared soccer moms would be if I pulled this out in public to open some packaging or the like. Pocket clip is good, and it's actually not that annoying in the rear pocket, it's pretty thin and so isn't that noticable, which is good because I like my knife handles to be thin. You aren't going to be whipping this thing out as easy or quick as a lighter bali though.

As an EDC - 3/5
As a flipper - 1/5
Hefty. feels good!

This is my first Balisong ever, it is nice and feels good in the hand, the Jimping is excellent, and the ring is just the right size.

I am happy to have this as my first Balisong - Butterfly Knife.

Also, whoever filled my personal request, though silly, thank you! (Drawing of a cat on the envelope, gonna post that on Twitter in a sec)

It's screw construction which I don't like and I had to tighten them but that is no big deal its overall fantastic.
