Very sharp out of the box. Excellent jimping thumb grooves on the spine and at the base of the blade, near the handle of the knife. You can use them easy with fingers or thumb with blade down or blade up. Interesting to me, because I don't see this jimping combination too often (own many knives). The handle is a handsome, smooth G10, and the index finger groove in the front of the handle helps the user hold the knife firmly. Anyway, this Hunt'n Fisch is a simple, solid build, with a good quality sheath for horizontal wear. With its 3" blade length, it's for smaller game, fish, camp foods, smaller tasks and chores, utility, etc. It could also be concealed and formidable for self-defense, or a last ditch back-up to a larger camp or survival knife. I like this one, and it's a solid enough build to last a lifetime if taken care of!
