Description

The Bear & Son 114B butterfly knife features a durable black epoxy coating over the tough alloy handles. Their skeletonized design reduces weight while adding additional tactile feedback while flipping. It has a stainless steel clip point blade with a plain edge and single tang pin. In the way of mid-range butterfly knives, this model is a great buy and it's made in the USA.

I got this knife, it was my first one, and i really like the knife but the handle broke after 3 days, most likely because I dropped it quite a bit. Handle is solid, but very fragile.
A nice butterfly for the money

Added this to my order to hit the order minimum to get some free stuff. And, I've not put it down!

The materials, fit and finish are good. The handles feel good and the blade was reasonably sharp out of the box. The grind is a little disappointing, but hey, it's an inexpensive knife.

The latch, just like on the old Benchmade WeeHawk I had back in the day like to swing up and catch the blade. Not much one can do about that with a non-spring loaded design.

This thing flips fast and smooth. Yes, there is some handle play--so what? If it was a $500 knife, I'd be annoyed, for 30-odd dollars, I can live with it.

I wish I knew more than a couple flips--gotta work on that. I will say that you can't beat a latch drop with this thing for a fast opening!

So, yes, I recommend this for an intro to the balisong. Put a couple layers of Scotch tape over the edge and you have a nice trainer (ALWAYS grab the safe handle, NOT the bite handle). ;-)
Great knife but...

A handle broke after less than 90 days. It's a great knife and flips fine. I think it was because I flip it a lot and not because it was made badly. Great knife, I will most likely buy another one of these as a replacement.

I had heard mixed thoughts and reviews online about this knife, but I wanted to have a feel for myself. This being a bear and son, it's a step above a CCC. With pin and channel construction, this knife will last for a bit.Out of the box it's a bit stiff, but after about a day of flipping it'll open with ease. The weight with this knife wasn't a problem for me, but if you're used to lighter balisongs then this knife takes some getting use to. As of now, this is a great sub-$50 butterfly knife, and is ideal for anyone just starting out, or not sure whether or not they want to get into flipping.
