The knife is overall very nice, it is very solid feeling, with a comfortable heft. It functions flawlessly, though the first few dozen firings were a bit stiff, until it broke in. The spring is auite powerful and the blade is extremely fast, I can even feel it jerk in my hand when it moves and it locks with a satisfying “kachunk.” The blade is very thick and sturdy looking.
However, it is DULL! Very dull. I have had butter knives that were sharper and I’m not even kidding. Dollar store scissors would be sharper than this, it won’t even cut paper without ripping it. Additionally, the tip is ever so slightly blunted, like the blank was designed anticipating a lot more grinding during sharpening than was actually done. Did the factory even TRY to sharpen this?
After about an hour, and hundreds of passes on a sharpener, it is finally approaching sharp enough, it can at least cut paper now, but it has a ways to go.
You should treat this knife as UNSHARPENED, do not order it unless you have a grinder and some patience, there is just too much metal to remove to be practical for “normal” knofe sharpeners, ask me how I know. However, once you get it sharp, you’ll have an excellent knife.
