I like the Russian autos and this knife is one of their best. Very strong and very well built. Fires very very hard. I took the walnut handles down to 12,000 grit, buffed them and coated the whole knife with Ren wax and it is beautiful. I wouldn't be afraid to be lost in the wilderness if I had this knife with me. It is that strong.

I have purchased Italian and Czech autos, but never a Russian, so I really wasn't sure what to expect from the Medteh. I was not disappointed. This is a hefty, substantial, knife that fills your palm. The overall thickness is greater than I expected. No skimping on materials or workmanship, either. Everything is solid and tight, and this thing is built like a tank. The lever release and lockback mech. were a bit stiff, at first, but loosened up quickly with use. The blade fires fast and strong and is plenty sharp. I fully expect that, with minimal maintenance, this knife will be around long after I'm not.
