Start with wd40, push the release button and slide your thumb down to let the release engage the blade lock. It takes some practice and works 98% of the time. I also carefully used 1\16 round dremmel bit to clean up the 1\2 round locking cutout on the blade it's now 100% reliable. (shave and test a little at a time. I removed .5 or less mostly on the side opposite the push button.
Nice knife

Just got this knife and think is is well built for a China made knife. The button needs to be depressed deeper than most knives I own but it is rather quick and locks up and releases well.Looks great especially for the price. I will be back.
Cool knife, but has issues.

Bought this for a Christmas gift. Overall, the quality, fit and finish is certainly acceptable for a knife at this price point. Sadly, the manufacturer decided to save a few cents on the spring. The knife was unable to even achieve a fully open position upon receipt. After lots of lube and several hundred openings, it now will. However, now it more often than not fails to lock open.

BladyPlay's CS dept. kindly offered to send another. I decided to keep the one I got and hope it wears in.

For an Andrew Jackson, it is an OK knife. Just be aware that you may need to mess around with it to get it working properly.

The blade is great, lockup is tight with no play. The faux stag looks and feel nice. If ONLY they could have put a little more powerful spring in it, it would be awesome for the price point.
