Description

This knife is the tactical version of the Ransom butterfly knife; all black with silver accents on the t-latch and two tang pins. It has solid, smooth rotation with minimal handle play. The Ransom features a black steel skeletonized frame. The handles have grooves along their edges for tactile feedback and superior grip. The black finished 440 steel blade features a psuedo blood grove, a swedged clip point, and two tang pins. The tang pins are designed for tighter lock-up and minimizes blade wear. The knife is constructed with Torx screws for easy adjustment of the knife.

Please Note: As with all butterfly knives, please be sure to maintain and tighten the screws, especially the pivot screws. We recommend using a threadlocker (Click HERE!) for best results. Adjust with care, we do not warrant stripped screws!

This knife truly amazes me, from the day it came in to today, I'm still flipping it and mastering tricks. i highly recommend this. I've had to tighten the screws a little but that goes with every single cheaper butterfly knife. ready right out of the box, easy to use, and good for all experience levels, paint wears off vaguely but still a beautiful knife. I'm in love with this fun!

As with all butterflies, you must order some thread locker to go with this so the handles won't unscrew and fall apart, but after it's ready, this is a great, evenly weighted butterfly for such a low price. Mine arrived with the safe handle and bite handle flipped which BLADEPLAY offered to return and reimburse me for if I wanted them to, but it was easy to take apart and flip the blade before thread locking it anyways. You can tell it's not an expensive knife but it's certainly well worth $15.00. It's a lot of fun to play with and is very sharp so make sure to get a $10.00 trainer butterfly or tape the blade to avoid accidents if this is your first butterfly. Well worth $15.00.
Cheap, but will get the job done

It definitely shows that this is a cheap, chinese balisong. But, it's by no means bad if you want to learn flipping with a live blade.

Cons; One of my tang pins fell out, of course the one that rests in the cups when the blade is opened, so without it the blade flops around from side to side. Currently I have it epoxied in, but I'm planning on doing something more permanent later.

Another downside is that it's blade doesn't hold an edge very well. Mine came with some tiny chips in the blade, so some parts are impossible to sharpen. It does make it more forgiving when you accidentally catch the blade, or if you mess up a flip, but that's a bad habit to get into regardless.

Lastly, I did have to apply threadlocker to the pivots. The safe handle was becoming very loose, but with some blue threadlocker, it stays right where I left it (which is a tad too loose, but that's just user error.)

Now onto the pros; It's very affordable. You don't need to drop 40 or 90 or 200 dollars on a blade to learn how to flip with something live.

It's pretty light, but this is 100% up to the user. Some people like real heavy blades, but I prefer lighter ones. This is almost 1.5 ounces lighter than my first one I owned, so I enjoy this one quite a bit more.

To wrap up this lengthy post that no one's going to read, I like this knife as a BEGINNER knife. Don't plan on keeping it for long, either, or if you do, expect having to mod it a bit. But, regardless, it's not too bad.
Sweet little knife!

I spoke too quickly in my first review. I was trying to tighten when unnecessary. It is light, but blade and finish is lovely and it's the prettiest of my 5 butterflies. I'm in agreement with Hudson H.

This is my first butterfly knife and I have to say this knife doesn't need lock tight. The screws stay in place, it's incredibly sturdy, and it's a great weight. But make sure to get a torx screwdriver because one of the handles will need a little adjusting. It's so much fun and I would recommend this to anyone.
Pretty good knife!

Nice and easy to flip. nice and light. If you take the screws out to put threadlocker on, make sure you tighten them enough or you might have it fall out and lose it like I did. Good knife though.

The safe handles pivot screw was a bit tight at first but that was pretty easily fixed. The only issue I found is that the grooves that hold the handles at the right distance to be locked, aren't quite deep enough, so its pretty difficult to lock and unlock.
Good first butterfly

Bought this knife as a first butterfly. I'll say overall this knife is a good investment, for the price it's hard to beat. The action is smooth, the weight is decent and the blade is ok. It came semi-sharp. Which is fine, I sharpen my blades myself anyhow. I did have to tighten the handles after a few hours of use. Nothing too major. Some locktite would probably prevent ever having to do it again. Overall, it's a sound investment and I'm happy with it.
Absolutely stunning

I don't think I could've bought a better knife for the price. This thing came so sharp, that I accidently cut my finger to the bone from flipping it wrong. BUT I LOVE IT! Only thing I did was wd-40 the tang area and pivot pins, so it would be smoother.

I HIGHLY recommend this knife.
