This is a solid and well-built stiletto from a Russian manufacturer of medical equipment. The marking states that the blade is from "surgical steel". and is very sharp. As stated by MeadMetals, "Surgical steels are those (stainless steels) with the greatest amount of corrosion resistance and are designated for biomedical applications". On some knives like the one pictured, the marking is 95x18 steel (Russian version of 440C but with 0.2% titanium). It fires with authority and has no blade play that plagues many cheaper stilettos. The bolsters require some force to press to close the knife with an audible click. The lanyard-safety loop also needs force to apply in order to rotate and and prevent the blade from accidental opening. Overall the quality if impressive and it also looks nice. Recommend, although these days it is hard to get.
