Not an assisted open knife....need a little practice to open one-handed. Blade steel superior to most Chinese knives and came shaving sharp out of the box. Really good feeling rubber-like grip. Locks up solid. Can't beat for under $10. Really good EDC knife for working class person. Schrade seems to be picking up their game a bit compared to most Chinese made knives.
